Camping is enjoying great popularity with more and more people, and anyone who chooses the south of France as a destination is taking a camping holiday in camping country number one. The numerous sites are divided into different categories and expect visitors from the most diverse countries. Among others, there are also numerous family-friendly campsites with extremely modern facilities that offer children many things to do. Campers can choose a site close to the beach, but for naturists and lovers of farm campsites too there are varied camping options in the south of France. In any case, caution is called for in France: wild camping is generally prohibited.

Before holidaymakers set off on a camping holiday, they should absolutely check their equipment. This includes, among other things, tents, rucksacks, but also the perfect condition of any motorhome or caravan. The rest of the camping equipment also needs checking so that the travel bug does not suddenly turn to travel frustration. If the traveller has forgotten something after all, then at many campsites in France it is quite possible to hire the necessary accessories for a fee. Many supermarkets in the region are also equipped with various camping departments. This is particularly helpful, for example, when the camper is missing a required adapter for the electricity connection.

Anyone who wants a cheap camping holiday in the south of France should opt for a so-called camping à la ferme, because here the holidaymaker is offered an inexpensive pitch. At the same time, it can happen that the sanitary facilities often seem somewhat more basic and campers also have to do without shops or a restaurant.

Even motorcyclists and cyclists like to combine their tours with camping in the south of France, since by day they explore the attractive surroundings on two wheels and then let the evening end comfortably at the campsite. Campsites are also ideal for getting to know new people, because making new contacts works without problems when camping, thanks to the variety of different campers. At the same time, campsites close to the beach are also very popular and not infrequently fully booked early. Because of this popularity, however, these sites are not among the cheap ones, which is due not only to the price of a pitch but also to the facilities.

In principle every camper has to decide for himself what requirements a campsite must meet, because just as different as the campsites in the south of France are the individual needs of the campers.
